The Power of STRENGTH:

STRENGTH IS ...

In the teachings of Charles Fillmore and the Unity movement, March is associated with the color green and the spiritual faculty of Strength. This divine quality is centered in what Fillmore described as the “small of the back,” symbolizing our spiritual backbone — the unseen support that upholds us in every circumstance.

Fillmore taught that strength is one of the twelve inherent faculties of the soul — not something we acquire, but something we awaken. It is the Christ power within us that enables perseverance, faithfulness, courage, and steadfastness. Strength is not merely physical stamina; it is the inner capacity to stand firm in Truth when appearances try to shake us.

Located at the back of the body in metaphysical symbolism, strength represents support. Just as our physical back supports our upright posture, spiritual strength supports our spiritual identity. When we feel “backed up” by God, by Spirit, by the indwelling I AM Presence, we move through life differently. We stop striving from anxiety and begin living from assurance.

How, then, do we activate this faculty in daily life?

FIRST, THROUGH AFFIRMATION.
Speak consciously:  “The strength of the Christ upholds me. Divine power sustains me in every moment.”  Words are formative. When we declare strength, we align with it.

SECOND, THROUGH STILLNESS.
Strength grows in quiet confidence. When challenges arise, instead of reacting in fear, pause. Breathe. Feel the center of your being. Know that you are supported from within.

THIRD, THROUGH CONSISTENCY.
Strength is cultivated through steady spiritual practice — prayer, meditation, gratitude, forgiveness. Each time you choose love over irritation, patience over haste, faith over doubt, you are exercising spiritual muscle.

Green also symbolizes growth. Sometimes strength shows up as the willingness to grow beyond old habits, beyond old stories about ourselves. Strength may mean setting boundaries. It may mean releasing what no longer nourishes you. It may mean standing firm in compassion when the world seems divided.

This month, allow yourself to feel spiritually “backed.” You are not carrying life alone. The same Power that turns winter into spring lives and moves in you. The same Presence that strengthens the oak tree strengthens your heart.

March invites us to stand tall in divine resilience. Not rigid, but rooted. Not forceful, but faithful.

May you walk this month with spiritual backbone — steady, calm, and assured. May you feel green life rising within you. And may the strength of the Christ within sustain you in every thought, word, and action.

With abiding love and confidence in the power within you,

Rev. Cooper's Desk

Greetings and Salutations,

Welcome to March!  Spring time!

Grace and peace to you as we enter the sacred month of March.

Green is the color of life, renewal, and steady growth. It is the hue of early spring pushing through winter’s soil. It reminds us that strength is not harshness, nor is it force. True spiritual strength is quiet, grounded, and enduring. It is the power that sustains, stabilizes, and restores.
